About Us:
In 1993, Jack and Linda Ridder started Dogwood Mountain Log Homes from their home north of Harrisonburg, Virginia. In 2003, they celebrated their 10th anniversary!
In 1994, the Dogwood model in Mt. Crawford, Virginia was constructed, just a few miles from the current Fair Oaks model which is located south of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
The Dogwood model was designed by their son, Drew, while studying architecture at Virginia Tech. They built his design and used their log home as a model.
Their first log home was sold while they were still living in their brick home. A modified Jackson model was built in Mathias, West Virginia. Sales were slow at first, but with hard work the sales started to pick up, and in 1997 they sold 6 houses.
In 1999, the Fair Oaks Model was constructed and Drew joined the business. That year, the Ridders sold 18 houses. The business continued to grow and in 2002, Scott Ridder, the eldest son, joined the business.
